Sire

2006 Salento Negroamaro

The Marco Maci Sire is a remarkable expression of the Negroamaro varietal, hailing from the sun-kissed region of Salento. This full-bodied red wine captivates with its deep ruby color, hinting at the richness that lies within. It presents a beautiful balance of high acidity, which gives it a mouthwatering quality that invites you to take another sip. The fruit intensity is prominent, showcasing lush notes of ripe blackberries and dark cherries, accentuated by subtle hints of spice and earthy undertones. Tannins are notably firm yet well-integrated, providing structure and depth to each glass. As a dry wine, it remains refreshing, making it a superb companion for hearty dishes or a delightful indulgence on its own. Overall, Marco Maci Sire is a captivating choice for those seeking to explore the vibrant character of Salento’s winegrowing heritage.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
